Once you've configured your chart, you can save the configuration as a template for future use. This allows you to easily recreate similar charts without needing to reconfigure the settings each time. Follow these steps to save a chart as a template:

  1. Navigate to Save Template:

    • After setting up the chart (by selecting the chart type, dimensions, fields, and calculations), locate the Save Template button at the top of the interface, right next to the "Templates" dropdown.

  2. Enter a Template Name:

    • Give your template a meaningful name to help identify it later or it can be automatically generated by AI. This will allow you to easily apply this template to future charts.

  3. Save:

    • After naming the template, click on the Save Template button.

    • Your template will now be saved and can be accessed from the "Templates" dropdown for future use.

  1. Managing My Templates:

Once you've created a template in Chart Factory for Jira, you have several management options when saving it. These actions—resetting, copying, or deleting a template—allow you to maintain flexibility while working with pre-existing chart templates. Below are the steps to manage a template:

  1. Applying a Saved Template:

Load a Template:

  • Go to the Templates dropdown menu and select a pre-existing template created by the user.

  • The chart configuration will automatically be populated with the settings from the chosen template.

Reset Template:

Reset the Template Configuration:

  • If you've applied a template but want to start over with default settings, click the Reset button.

  • This action will revert all fields and options back to their default states, allowing you to begin a new configuration without any template presets.

Copy Template:

Duplicate an Existing Template:

  • If you wish to create a similar chart but with minor adjustments, you can duplicate the current template.

  • Click the Copy Template button to create a copy of the template.

  • The duplicated template will appear in your list of templates, allowing you to modify it without affecting the original.

Delete Template:

Remove a Template:

  • If a template is no longer needed, you can permanently delete it by clicking the Delete Template button.

  • Confirm the deletion when prompted, and the template will be removed from the template list.

  • This action cannot be undone, so ensure the template is no longer needed before deletion.

  1. Managing Shared Templates:

In Chart Factory for Jira, you also have the option to use templates that have been shared with you by other users. While working with Shared Templates, the actions you can take are similar to those available with My Templates, with some differences: you cannot save changes directly to a shared template. Instead, you can only save a copy of the template , and shared templates cannot be deleted

  1. Managing Default Templates:

In addition to my templates and shared templates, Chart Factory for Jira provides a set of Default Templates that serve as predefined templates for common use cases. These templates behave in the same way as Shared Templates.

  1. Accessing Templates via the Navigation Icon:

In addition to managing templates through the main chart configuration panel, Chart Factory for Jira offers a convenient way to access and manage your templates directly from the navigation bar. This is particularly useful when you want quick access to your saved templates.

  1. Accessing "My Templates", "Shared Templates", and "Default Templates":

Selecting Your Template Category:

  • My Templates: Select this option to access all templates you have personally saved. You can edit, copy, or delete them.

  • Shared Templates: Any templates shared within your Jira environment can be accessed from the Shared Templates section. These templates can be copied or used, but modifications must be saved as new copies.

  • Addon Templates: This category combines both My Templates and Shared Templates into one view, giving you a comprehensive list of all templates available to you, whether created by you or shared by others.

  • Default Templates: Predefined templates available for standard usage. These templates follow the same behavior as shared templates but cannot be deleted.
