Once the app is installed, you can start using the Advanced Activity Stream gadget directly from your Jira dashboard to unlock powerful customization and filtering capabilities.
1. Add the Gadget to Your Dashboard
Go to your Jira Dashboard
Click on “Add gadget” in the upper right
Search for “Advanced Activity Stream”
Click Add next to the gadget by Cappsule
2. Configuration Options
Once you’ve added the Advanced Activity Stream gadget to your dashboard, you can fine-tune its behavior using powerful stream parameters and issue filters.
2.1 Stream Parameters
This section lets you define the scope of the activity stream by selecting who and what you want to track.
Account ID
Use this to filter activities by a specific Jira user.
You can choose:
A single user (team member)
Operator:
IsorIs not
Activity
Choose from over 130+ activity types to include in your stream. This includes:
Issue Created
Issue Transitioned
Work Logged
Comments
Field Updates ( Assignee, Summary, Description...)
Activities are categorized and expandable for fine-grained control.
2.2 Issue Filters
This section allows you to narrow down activities by specific issue attributes.
Click Add a Filter to define one or more criteria using dropdown fields:
Filter by Project, Issue Key, Assignee, Status, etc.

You can switch between Basic mode (dropdowns) and JQL mode for advanced queries.
2.3 Limit & Auto-Refresh Options
At the bottom of the configuration panel, you’ll find settings to control the stream size and refresh behavior.
Limit to [X] items
Use this numeric input to restrict the number of activities shown in your stream. This is useful for keeping dashboards clean and focused, especially when multiple gadgets are present.
Example: Entering 10 will display the 10 most recent activity items matching your filters.
You can increase or decrease the limit using the up/down arrows.
Automatically refresh this activity stream
Check this box to enable auto-refresh of the stream. When enabled, the gadget will update the activity list automatically at regular intervals, ensuring you always see the most current updates.
This is particularly useful when monitoring live team activity or high-volume projects.
3. Save Your Configuration
Once you're done selecting your filters and settings, click Save. Your gadget will now display a real-time, tailored activity stream directly on your dashboard.
