Preferences
The Preferences section allows each user to customize how Timesheet for Jira behaves and displays information.
These settings help improve productivity by defining default views, controlling report loading, and adjusting time tracking formats.
1. Initial View
Description: Select the module that opens by default when you access the Timesheet plugin.
Options:
Reports (default)
Timesheet, Calendar, Planning, etc.
Purpose: Saves time by taking you directly to the feature you use most.
2. Bypass Issues Limit
Description: Enable or disable bypassing the maximum number of issues loaded in reports.
Purpose:
Enabled: Loads all matching issues, useful for comprehensive reports.
Disabled: Respects the system’s performance limits for faster loading.
3. Load Report Filter
Description: Enable or disable automatic loading of the last used filter when opening the Reports module.
Purpose:
Enabled: Automatically restores your last context, saving configuration time.
Disabled: Opens with no pre-selected filter, giving a clean start.
App Time Tracking Configuration
(Display settings only — does not affect Jira’s core time tracking data)
4. Time Display
Description: Choose how logged time is displayed within the app.
Options: Hours (default) or other formats depending on setup.
5. Export Format
Description: Choose the display style when exporting data.
Options:
Pretty: Human-friendly format.
Raw: Exact numeric values.
6. Date Export Format
Description: Format for dates in exported reports.
Options: Pretty (readable) or Raw (technical format).
7. Excel Date Formatter
Description: Selects the date format used in Excel exports (option appears disabled if not applicable).
Jira Time Tracking Configuration
(Fields synchronized with Jira — editable in Jira’s global settings)
8. Time Display Format
Description: Defines how Jira displays time tracking values.
Editable: Only via Jira’s own configuration.
9. Working Hours Per Day
Default: 8 hours.
10. Working Days Per Week
Default: 5 days.
Best Practices
Configure Initial View to match your most common workflow.
Keep Bypass Issues Limit disabled for large datasets to avoid performance issues.
Use consistent Export and Date formats to standardize reporting across the team.
